Information Retrieval (IR)
  - Adaptive Generalization
Many IR users may give little thought to the selection of appropriate keywords.
As a result, the IR system can not retrieve all relevant information from
the query. Adaptive Generalization is a method for estimating generalized
level for each keyword based on the word distribution information. This
method can be used as a part of query expansion mechanism of the IR system.
   - Appropriate Boolean query Reformulation for Information Retrieval (ABRIR)
It is not easy for IR users to construct a Boolean query that covers all
relevant documents. ABRIR supports to clarify the Boolean query by using
  (pseudo-)relevant documents.

Text Summarization
  - Multiple News Articles Summarization based on Event Reference Information
Most of news articles report several events and these events are refereed
with following articles, we use this event reference information to calculate
importance of a sentence in multiple news articles. We also propose a method
to delete redundant description by using similarity of events.

Analyze what designers do in real design process (e.g. how they use
knowledge etc.) and make a model of design process.
  - Knowledge Intensive Engineering
Framework for new engineering by intensively stored various kind of knowledge
related to whole life cycle of artifacts (e.g. design, maintenance, recycle,
  etc.).

  - Functional modeling
Make framework for representing function of artifacts.
